Grand Opening Draws Big Crowds, Oct. 1-3

Special thanks to our Event Sponsors.

The Grand Opening of our newly renovated Education Center and Green Business Incubator was a big success! The festivities began with a VIP reception the morning of October 1, followed by a “ribbon”-cutting ceremony on Cordell Avenue. County Executive Ike Leggett gave a short speech, as did Bethesda Green Board co-chairs Seth Goldman (TeaEO of Honest Tea) and County Councilmember George Leventhal, Bethesda Green Executive Director Dave Feldman, County Council Vice President Roger Berliner and a few others.

A representative from the governor’s office presented a proclamation declaring October 1 “Bethesda Green Business Incubator Day.” The dignitaries then cut a “ribbon” made from an invasive-species vine donated by American Plant.

We'd like to give special thanks to our Event Sponsors:  (Platinum) The Coca-Cola Company, Donohoe Construction Company; (Gold) Pepco, Smith Design and Construction, Perfect Settings, Honest Tea, Bray and Scarff; (Silver) PNC Bank, Reznick Group, Whole Foods Market-Bethesda, Sweetgreen, Red Coats, Inc., American Plant; (Bronze) Edgemoor Investment Advisors, Resole America; (Patron) KFH Group.

During the October 1-3 Launch and Open House, hundreds of people visited our new offices at 4825 Cordell Ave., Suite 200, above the Chevy Chase Bank branch at the corner of Woodmont and Cordell Avenues. They got a chance to meet our Green Business entrepreneurs, learn about our working groups, and listen to experts discuss Green Business issues, Sustainable Living, and Community Sustainability.

In addition, a team of our student volunteers helped collect recycling at the Taste of Bethesda, October 3, a great new step for the Taste we hope to continue in upcoming years.

Check out our news page for clips from local media about the Grand Opening event.

Thanks again to all of our sponsors, supporters, donors and volunteers who made the event happen! The large turnout reflects the huge amount of community support and interest we’ve received. And this is just the beginning!
