Clean Creek, Clean Potomac!
Saturday, April 9
9:00 to 12:00
Volunteers needed for:
Creek Sweep: Put on your boots and old clothing and help us clean out the Little Falls and Willett creeks. Last year, we removed over 50 bags of trash along with tires, shopping carts and more.
Garlic Mustard Challenge: Garlic mustard is an aggressive plant that is taking over the parks crowding out other wildflowers. Along with cleaning the creek, we are also pulling this herb and bagging for disposal. Last year, we pulled over 1,000 pounds. Our challenge is to beat that by another 500 pounds!
Four locations in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area:
- Somerset Pool (Corner of Falstone and Warwick Aves in Chevy Chase)
- Bethesda Pool (Corner of Hillandale and Little Falls Parkway in Bethesda)
- Little Falls Parkway between River and Mass Avenues. Look for us at the second gravel pull out as you head south on the Parkway from River Road.
- Landy Lane, Bethesda (right along the Capital Crescent Trail where it crosses River Road): No creek clean-up here. We will be cleaning River Road from this spot.
